Su Chiao-hui, legislative member and mayoral candidate for New Taipei City, officially launched the 'Yunlin Compatriot Support Association' today (15th), with over a thousand Yunlin-origin residents attending in support. The event was organized by key figures from Yunlin compatriot associations, including Chi Shih-chi, President of the New Taipei City Yunlin Compatriot Association; Lin Chien-sung and Kang I-sheng, National Policy Advisors; and Li Ching-hsiung, Chief Advisor of the National Yunlin Compatriot Association. Supporters waved flags and chanted 'Su Chiao-hui, number one!' showcasing strong solidarity.

New Taipei City hosts the largest population of Yunlin-origin residents in Taiwan, with approximately 800,000 people from Yunlin living in the city. Many have moved north for work, settled down, and thrived across various industries, embodying the pragmatic and resilient 'Yunlin spirit.' They also remain deeply connected to and supportive of their hometown. Su emphasized that, if elected mayor, she would unite the strengths of New Taipei and Yunlin to create a city that is 'a great place for locals and a new hometown for those from elsewhere.'

Highlighting Yunlin’s premium agricultural products such as peanuts, sweet potatoes, and garlic, as well as rich cultural heritage like glove puppetry and traditional folk troupes, Su proposed launching a 'Yunlin Day' in collaboration with farmers’ associations and compatriot groups. This event would bring Yunlin’s agricultural specialties and cultural features to New Taipei, increasing public awareness and support while strengthening community bonds among Yunlin residents in the city.

Beyond cultural and agricultural promotion, Su unveiled plans for industrial cooperation between New Taipei and Yunlin. She proposed fostering AI and vocational talent exchange to jointly cultivate professionals in AI semiconductors, drones, and agricultural technology, ensuring closer alignment between vocational education and industry needs.

Su noted that Yunlin has been actively advancing AI-powered drones, smart agriculture, and youth entrepreneurship, while New Taipei excels in electronics, machinery, materials, and digital startups. She pledged to work with legislator Liu Chien-kuo to integrate industrial and talent resources from both regions, deepen smart city collaboration, drive industrial upgrading, and achieve shared progress and mutual success.

Reflecting on her long-standing ties, Su shared that she has known many in the Yunlin compatriot community for over a decade and has attended nearly every event whenever possible. She described the association as the warmest and most solid bridge between New Taipei and Yunlin, expressing deep emotion at seeing over a thousand supporters today and reaffirming her determination to work hand-in-hand with Yunlin compatriots.

Chi Shih-chi, President of the New Taipei City Yunlin Compatriot Association, praised Su for her consistent support and attendance at association events over the years. He called on Yunlin residents to unite in support of Su, hoping she will win the mayoral election by a significant margin.

The event was also attended by legislators Wu Ping-wei, Chang Hung-lu, and Wu Chi-ming; former legislator Lo Chih-cheng; New Taipei City councilors Li Yu-hsiang, Chen Nai-yu, Weng Chen-chou, Li Yu-tien, Huang Shu-chun, Liao Yi-kun, Tai Wei-shan, Chang Chia-ling, Lin Ping-yu, and Chang Wei-chien; and mayoral candidates Tsai Mei-hua, Wu Yi-hsuan, Chang Chih-hao, Lo Wen-chung, Chen Tai-yin, Chen Wei-jen, Chen Chun-yen, Wu Sheng-han, and Li Kun-ying.
