Former chairman of the Changhua Bar Association, Chen Yu-hsuan, is suspected of defrauding the Tzu Chi Charity Foundation of over NT$1 billion in 2021 by falsely claiming he could assist in purchasing BNT vaccines. According to the Taichung District Prosecutors Office's indictment, Chen wrote 'DPP 1 million' in his notes for the 'TC case,' raising suspicions that it refers to the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP). In response, Ko Wen-je, founding chairman of the Taiwan People's Party, criticized prosecutors, urging them to handle the case like the Jinghua City case by detaining former Minister of Health and Welfare Chen Shih-chung and banning all visits. Ko also demanded immediate searches of the DPP central headquarters, seizure of all computers and mobile phones, and even called for former President Tsai Ing-wen to be detained for one year. 'Taiwan's judiciary is just like this; there's nothing we can do about it,' Ko said. He added that while many claim the courts have confirmed his corruption, the DPP government has in fact fabricated a wrongful conviction against him and used the media to smear him relentlessly. 'My experience has truly become material for Taiwan to reflect on its politics,' Ko emphasized, warning that when the judiciary loses public trust, it becomes a serious crisis.
