China Central Television officially announced the death of former Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji during its 7:00 PM news broadcast on August 12. In 1993, New News published a special book titled 'The Biography of Zhu Rongji,' introducing Zhu, then known as 'China's Gorbachev,' a high-ranking Chinese Communist Party official. At the time, Zhu served as Vice Premier of the State Council and Governor of the People's Bank of China (China's central bank), profoundly influencing China's reform and opening-up policy. He later assumed the role of Premier of the State Council on March 17, 1998.
