Yunlin county magistrate candidate Chang Chia-chun today (15th) accompanied Taichung Mayor Lu Hsiu-yen and Yunlin County Magistrate Chang Li-shan on a visit to Xiluo, Yunlin, where they conducted temple visits and enjoyed local cuisine while exchanging views on local governance.
Chang Chia-chun expressed her support for Mayor Lu Hsiu-yen's promotion of the Central Taiwan Regional Governance Platform, stating that cross-county and cross-regional public issues often cannot be resolved by a single county alone. Only through regional cooperation and resource integration can greater benefits be achieved. Chang emphasized that if elected, she will continue to lead Yunlin in actively participating in the Central Taiwan Regional Governance Platform, promoting exchanges and cooperation with other counties and cities, advancing resource sharing and complementary strengths, ensuring that Yunlin is not just a participant but becomes a key partner in regional co-development, jointly shaping a new era of prosperity for Central Taiwan.
Mayor Lu Hsiu-yen's visit to Yunlin began with temple visits to Guangfu Temple and Fuxing Temple, where she enjoyed the local traditional delicacy, Jiucengguo. The delegation then proceeded to the Yunlin Agricultural Products Museum at the Xiluo Township Farmers' Association to exchange in-depth opinions on local governance and urban development.
Chang Chia-chun noted that Mayor Lu established the 'Central Taiwan Regional Governance Platform' in 2019, which now connects eight counties and cities: Hsinchu County and City, Miaoli, Taichung, Changhua, Nantou, Yunlin, and Chiayi City, covering a population of over 7 million people. It has become Taiwan's largest regional joint governance platform. Counties have deepened cooperation on cross-domain issues such as air pollution, transportation infrastructure, and agricultural marketing, already demonstrating concrete results.
Chang reiterated that cross-county and cross-regional public issues often require regional collaboration and resource integration to achieve greater impact. She pledged to lead Yunlin in actively exchanging and cooperating with other counties and cities, promoting resource sharing and complementary advantages, positioning Yunlin as a key partner in regional co-development and jointly building a new landscape of prosperity for Central Taiwan.
Mayor Lu stated that Yunlin is a crucial agricultural production base in Taiwan, with many high-quality agricultural products long supplied to Taichung and nationwide markets. Taichung, in turn, possesses a vast consumer market and commercial distribution network. By leveraging each other's strengths, more cooperation opportunities can be created. Exchange between different counties not only allows sharing of governance experiences but also mutual learning in industry, markets, and tourism.
Mayor Lu also highly praised Chang Chia-chun for proposing government-funded free health insurance for citizens aged 65 and above, alleviating family burdens on younger generations. She commended Chang's international perspective in promoting bilingual education to cultivate students' abilities to express themselves, communicate confidently, and understand others. The 'Yunlin Elite Talent Program' aims to nurture more talent for Yunlin and Central Taiwan, all contributing to Yunlin's advancement.
Chang Chia-chun highlighted that Xiluo is not only rich in historic temple culture and traditional cuisine but also a major vegetable and fruit production and distribution hub in Taiwan. Every day, large quantities of fresh agricultural products are shipped from Xiluo to destinations across Taiwan—this is a long-standing local advantage. In the future, she plans to further integrate tourism, industry, and city marketing, allowing culture and industry to complement each other and create more development opportunities for the region.
During the visit to the Yunlin Agricultural Products Museum, Chang introduced Yunlin's agricultural specialties and the development of the 'Yunlin Liangpin' brand to Mayor Lu. She pointed out that in recent years, Yunlin has continuously enhanced the added value of agricultural products through quality improvement, packaging design, and market expansion, enabling more high-quality Yunlin products to enter domestic and international markets. The synergy between premium agricultural products and brand marketing has steadily elevated Yunlin agriculture's brand value and international visibility.
Chang stated that Yunlin's 20 townships each possess unique cultural foundations and industrial characteristics. She hopes that through the governance experiences of different cities, more ideas for local development can be inspired. In the future, she will continue to integrate local characteristics, industrial resources, and city marketing, enabling each area to leverage its strengths and connect with others, enhancing Yunlin's overall development momentum.
