Kaohsiung's high-quality agricultural products are steadily expanding into overseas markets! The Kaohsiung City Government Agriculture Bureau has intensified its focus on the Singapore and Malaysia markets, collaborating with major local retailers to promote "Kaohsiung's Finest" fresh fruits. In the first half of this year, sales volume in Singapore and Malaysia reached nearly 70 tons, a nearly 50% increase compared to the same period last year, demonstrating impressive achievements in overseas market expansion.
The Agriculture Bureau is further amplifying its marketing efforts, partnering again with Singapore's NTUC FairPrice from August 13 to 19 to launch 10 promotional events for red wax guava across five stores, sustaining the high popularity of Kaohsiung's fresh fruits in Singapore.
Red Wax Guava Takes Singapore by Storm: 10 Promotions Across 5 Stores
The Agriculture Bureau stated that this year it continues to collaborate with Singapore's NTUC FairPrice. In the first half, promotions for Kaohsiung's fresh fruits—including guava, red wax guava, wax apple, papaya, and wax apple (lieng wu)—were rolled out sequentially. For the first time, Kaohsiung's specialty vegetable "wild lotus" was introduced into retail channels, offering Singaporean consumers more opportunities to experience Kaohsiung's agricultural products.
In the second half, the focus remains on the best-selling red wax guava. From August 13 to 19, 10 promotional events will be held across five stores, using on-site tastings and in-store displays to directly engage consumers and further strengthen the brand image of "Kaohsiung's Finest."
In addition to NTUC FairPrice, the Agriculture Bureau also partnered with Singapore's Sheng Siong Supermarket in July to launch the banana brand "Taiwan Banana Nova (TAIWAN BANANOVA)" and a summer fresh produce promotion. The event promoted not only Taiwanese bananas and various seasonal fruits and vegetables from Kaohsiung but also adopted a "Taiwan Night Market" theme, bringing a Taiwan-sourced pachinko machine into the Singapore supermarket. The "Play Pachinko, Get Bananas" campaign allowed local consumers to shop while experiencing Taiwanese games and culture, enhancing brand memorability through creative interaction.
The Malaysian market is also heating up. The Agriculture Bureau has partnered with AEON supermarkets and Jaya Grocer Group stores to promote Kaohsiung's fresh fruits, with red wax guava as the highlight, along with tasting events that allow consumers to discover Kaohsiung's agricultural products through direct sampling. To date, "Kaohsiung's Finest" has been featured in over 30 stores across Singapore and Malaysia, hosting a cumulative 90 promotional and tasting events. Through a combination of retail distribution, on-site experiences, and brand marketing, the visibility and consumer awareness of Kaohsiung's agricultural products in the Singapore-Malaysia market continue to grow.
The Agriculture Bureau noted that sales volume in the Singapore-Malaysia market reached nearly 70 tons in the first half of the year, an increase of nearly 50% compared to the same period last year, indicating that Kaohsiung's fresh fruits are gradually building a strong consumer reputation overseas through superior quality and stable supply.
Yao Chih-Wang: Deepening Presence in Singapore and Malaysia Markets, Establishing "Kaohsiung's Finest" as a Global Taiwanese Agricultural Brand
Agriculture Bureau Director Yao Chih-Wang stated that although the agricultural product market in Singapore and Malaysia is highly competitive, Kaohsiung's products continue to gain favor among overseas consumers due to their excellent quality. Moving forward, the Agriculture Bureau will continue collaborating with farmers and industry stakeholders to strengthen supply stability and work closely with overseas retailers to plan promotional activities based on local consumer habits and market demands.
Yao emphasized that market expansion is not just about "sending" agricultural products abroad, but more importantly, about helping overseas consumers understand the unique characteristics and brand value of Kaohsiung's agricultural products. The bureau will use existing best-selling items as entry points to drive more of Kaohsiung's specialty agricultural products into the Singapore-Malaysia region and other overseas markets, continuously expanding the international recognition of the "Kaohsiung's Finest" brand, enabling Kaohsiung's premium agricultural products to shine brightly in the global market.
