New Taipei mayoral candidate Li Sichuan visited Zhonghe today (20) to hold a community forum with local residents, engaging directly with grassroots communities and listening closely to neighborhood concerns. Li stated that he will continue advancing to the frontlines, attentively hearing citizens’ voices and incorporating their feedback into future policy directions. He reaffirmed his commitment to accelerating the renewal of aging communities in Zhonghe through the 'Urban Renewal 5 Strong' initiative and pledged full support for extending the Zhonghe-Guangfu MRT line north and south to strengthen local transportation and improve residents’ quality of life.

Approximately 500 attendees, including over 40 local village chiefs from Zhonghe, participated in today’s forum, creating an enthusiastic atmosphere. As Li entered the venue, he was warmly welcomed by crowds eager to shake hands, take photos, and request autographs. Xie Senru, President of the Zhonghe District Village Chiefs Association and Chief of Dingnan Village, led the crowd in chanting 'Dongshuan!' (a pun on 'elected'), demonstrating strong grassroots unity and support. Legislators Zhang Zhilun and Councilors You Huicong, Qiu Fengyao, Jin Ruilong, and Chen Jinding also attended the event.

Li emphasized that aging neighborhoods in the Zhongyonghe area urgently require accelerated urban renewal to enhance residential safety. Having already proposed the 'Urban Renewal 5 Strong' policy, he pledged that upon becoming mayor, he will establish a city-level 'Urban Renewal Promotion Committee,' serving as its convener to integrate coordination across departments, streamline administrative efficiency, and expedite urban redevelopment. This effort aims to transform the cityscape and elevate housing safety standards.

Additionally, Li reiterated his commitment to realizing the 'Rail Transit 123' initiative, vowing to fully advance the northward and southward extensions of the Zhonghe-Guangfu MRT line. The northern extension will proceed from the Taipei Dome to Songshan Airport, while the southern leg will extend to Shizhang, connecting with the Circular Line and Ankeng Light Rail. This will create a direct transit corridor linking Xindian and Zhongyonghe directly to central Taipei, alleviating commuter congestion and further upgrading local residents’ living functions.
