Taiwan's first technology park initiated and led by a university, 'Tsing Hua² Science Park,' held its inauguration ceremony on August 10, officially announcing 2026 as the 'Year One of the Tech Park.' Located in the heart of Hsinchu Science Park, this innovation hub spans over 20 hectares of land and aims to deeply connect with global innovation ecosystems, driving the commercialization of university deep tech (Deep Tech), cross-border innovation linkages, and the cultivation of next-generation unicorn enterprises.

A New Paradigm of Private University Transformation and Public-Private Collaboration: Chung Hua University Donates Campus Assets to Enable Tsing Hua's Integration with Hsinchu Science Park

The establishment of 'Tsing Hua² Science Park' stems from the integration plan between National Tsing Hua University and private Chung Hua University, which was approved by the Ministry of Education in 2025. According to the plan, Chung Hua University will cease admissions starting February 2026 (Year 115), and after current students complete their studies and receive their original degrees on the existing campus, the university will officially cease operations in August 2030 (Year 119).

The Board of Directors of Chung Hua University fully supports the vision of the technology park and has decided to donate all remaining campus land and assets to National Tsing Hua University after closure. Chung Hua University President Liu Wei-Chi emphasized that this move not only allows the campus space to continue its educational and innovative value but also sets a new benchmark for private university transformation and collaboration between public and private universities in Taiwan.

Dual Core Engines Launched: The 1 Billion TWD 'Tsing Hua Future Fund' and 'Tsing Hua Accelerator' Take Center Stage

In its initial phase, 'Tsing Hua² Science Park' will focus on key frontier fields such as semiconductors, quantum technology, new energy, biomedical technology, and artificial intelligence. Currently, the College of Semiconductor Research and university-level industry-academia joint research centers of Tsing Hua University have already moved in. To drive rapid growth of the park, two core engines have been established:

Tsing Hua Future Fund: Co-founded in July by National Tsing Hua University and Yiding Venture Capital, the first phase targets approximately NT$1 billion, adopting a 15-year long-term capital structure. It will focus on investing in seed to growth-stage deep tech startups, prioritizing spin-offs from Tsing Hua, teams of faculty, students, alumni, and入驻 enterprises.

Tsing Hua Accelerator: Inheriting over a decade of mentorship experience from the 'Tsing Hua Startup Garage,' it provides global startup teams with a one-stop acceleration program, precisely connecting them with talent, facilities, capital, markets, and supply chain resources.

Connecting the Full Chain from Research to Capital Markets: Building a Deep Tech Innovation Value Chain

National Tsing Hua University has long led Taiwan in professor-led entrepreneurship, with successful publicly listed companies such as Macronix, Holtek, ACE, Wintek Biotech, and Ming Yuan Precision. Statistics show that over 60% of the market capitalization of publicly listed and TPEx-listed companies led by university professors in Taiwan comes from companies led by Tsing Hua professors.

National Tsing Hua University President Kao Wei-Yuan pointed out that 'Tsing Hua² Science Park' bridges the most challenging stages in university innovation and entrepreneurship, establishing a complete value chain from basic research, technology development, startup incubation, industry collaboration, to capital markets. Quoting Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, Kao stated, 'The difference between leaders and followers is innovation,' emphasizing that the park will become the ideal ground for nurturing next-generation tech leaders and international unicorns, leading Taiwan's tech industry to a new milestone.
