The New Taipei City Government held a grassroots construction supervision session today (20th) under its Action Governance initiative in Xizhi District. Mayor Hou You-yi led the municipal team in paying respects at Deming Temple, followed by site inspections of the 'Xidong MRT Line Zhongxing Road Construction Zone' and the 'Results of the Xizhi District Comprehensive Sports Field Improvement Project'.
Mayor Hou stated that the Xidong MRT Line construction has been progressing steadily since groundbreaking last year, with a target completion date of 2032, further enhancing the transportation network in the Xizhi area.
Hou noted that at the Zhongxing Road construction zone, 118 foundation piles and two bridge piers have already been completed, achieving an overall construction progress of 31.23%. Additionally, preparatory work at the Datong Road and Xintaiwu Road zones is advancing simultaneously, moving steadily toward the 2032 completion goal. Mayor Hou instructed the construction teams to ensure safety while maintaining steady progress and minimizing impacts on nearby residents and pedestrians, ensuring that the long-awaited Xidong MRT Line will be completed on time and to high standards.
Subsequently, Mayor Hou visited the Xizhi District Comprehensive Sports Field improvement project to review upgrades to artificial turf, running tracks, drainage systems, and lighting. On-site, he served as a goalkeeper during a ceremonial kickoff and interacted with football players from Chongde Elementary School, Xiufeng High School, Wulian Football Development Association, and Bank SinoPac Taipei Athletic Club.
Hou emphasized that the Xizhi Comprehensive Sports Field sees high usage, and the renovations have significantly improved both safety and functionality. In the future, it will not only host school-level competitions but also serve as a venue for corporate top-tier football leagues, creating a shared local sports space for all citizens.
During the Action Governance discussion meeting, Xizhi District Chief Lin Qing-feng presented an overview of the past eight years of development achievements, including the completion of 10 unique inclusive parks and green space improvements, creating comfortable recreational areas. The opening of the Ziqiang, Xinchang, and Huxing Civic Activity Centers has provided spaces for community interaction. Moreover, diverse events such as the Midsummer Night Music Party, Kanggao Creek Cultural Cherry Blossom Festival, and Shuifanjiao Happy Gathering Walk have attracted widespread public participation.
Mayor Hou expressed gratitude to neighborhood leaders for their long-term frontline service, acknowledging their efforts in understanding grassroots needs. He emphasized that the city government will remain a strong support for these leaders, continuously advancing local development and driving vibrant growth in Xizhi.
