Mazda Taiwan officially launched the all-new third-generation CX-5 on the 18th, unveiling full specifications for its four trim levels, with prices starting at NT$949,000. A key highlight of the new model is the standard inclusion of i-ACTIV AWD across all variants, along with up to 54 active and passive safety technologies, aiming to reinforce the CX-5’s competitiveness in Taiwan’s midsize SUV segment through enhanced equipment and upgraded interior space.

Model Prices:

- 25S AWD Elite: NT$949,000 - 25S AWD Exclusive: NT$1,089,000 - 25S AWD Premium: NT$1,149,000 - 25S AWD Premium Plus: NT$1,169,000

The new CX-5 maintains its position as a Japan-imported vehicle, powered by a 2.5-liter SKYACTIV-G gasoline engine producing 188ps of maximum horsepower and 26.2kg-m of peak torque, paired with a SKYACTIV-DRIVE 6-speed automatic transmission. Optimizations in power delivery and acceleration response enhance driving smoothness in daily use.

Compared to the previous generation, the third-gen CX-5 features an enlarged body, with the wheelbase extended by 115mm to 2,815mm. Rear passenger knee room increases by 64mm and headroom by 29mm. The rear door opening is widened rearward by 70mm, improving rear-seat accessibility and ease of child seat installation. Luggage space is also enhanced, with depth increased by 45mm and the lower edge of the trunk opening lowered by 18mm. Combined with a 4/2/4 split-folding rear seat, the cabin offers flexible configuration for family, leisure, or cargo needs. Certain trims feature a dual-mode large panoramic sunroof, further enhancing cabin openness.

Safety upgrades are a major focus. The third-gen CX-5 introduces 24 new safety features, including Forward Cross Traffic Braking, Intersection Traffic Assist, 360-degree Surround-View Monitor with Underfloor View, and Door Opening Alert—all part of the i-ACTIVSENSE suite—offering up to 54 active and passive safety features depending on trim.

The vehicle structure uses SKYACTIV-VEHICLE ARCHITECTURE, with 63% high-strength steel, including 21% ultra-high-strength steel exceeding 980MPa. Critical areas incorporate 2,000MPa ultra-high-strength steel. The model also includes 9 SRS airbags and i-Size-compliant child seat anchors.

Driving dynamics remain a core strength. The new CX-5 uses front MacPherson struts and rear multi-link independent suspension, with revised spring rates and damper tuning to maintain comfort and responsive handling despite the larger body. Standard AWD across all trims enhances traction and stability in various weather and road conditions.

The cabin features a 12.9-inch or 15.6-inch central display, a 10.25-inch full digital instrument cluster, and a full-color HUD. A driver personalization system uses an in-cabin camera to detect eye position, automatically adjusting seat and HUD height, while memorizing seat, mirror, and infotainment settings. Higher trims include a 12-speaker Bose premium audio system, front seat ducted ventilation, and three-stage heating for front and rear seats, reinforcing the CX-5’s positioning as a daily mobility space beyond mere transportation.

The CX-5 cabin continues Mazda’s human-centric ergonomics philosophy, integrating open visibility, intuitive controls, and personalization to minimize driver distraction.

Exterior design retains Mazda’s KODO: Soul of Motion philosophy, adopting the concept of “Wearable Gear.” The front and rear receive new identity through the redesigned魂動之翼 (Winged Crest), horizontal taillights, and a wide MAZDA emblem. Inspired by traditional Japanese “Moyou” joinery techniques, the body and wheel arch trim emphasize structural integrity and craftsmanship.

Mazda Taiwan states the all-new CX-5 centers on “New Generation Emotional Daily Comfort,” evolving in safety, space, technology, comfort, and driving experience to meet the diverse daily SUV needs of new-generation consumers. Pricing starts at NT$949,000. Orders placed by September 30 qualify for a NT$10,000 upgrade to the 4th and 5th year of the “Comprehensive Peace of Mind” extended warranty or a low-interest financing plan with up to NT$400,000. Additionally, the SIGNATURE STYLE appearance package is available as an option for NT$47,000.
