Former policy adviser Chang Ching-sen today (24) urged Taiwan People's Party (TPP) founding chairperson Ko Wen-je to stand up firmly against the Kuomintang (KMT), proposing a simple method: "Nominate former TPP legislator Huang Shan-shan as the candidate for Taipei mayor." He warned that if the party does not become stronger, it will be absorbed by the KMT.
In response to being publicly named as a potential mayoral candidate, Huang Shan-shan shared her current situation in a thousand-character Facebook post. She acknowledged that many people have been asking about her next steps, stating, "Frankly, this is my own matter, and I don't need to explain myself to anyone! I've been asked this question many times—after every election, after every career change. It seems like everyone worries my life might suddenly lose direction. In the past, I might have rushed to find an answer. But these past six months, for the first time, I feel there's no need to rush into a reply."
Huang recalled that the last time she felt this way was after the 2022 elections. From becoming a lawyer at age 22 until now, she has worked continuously for over 30 years, constantly chased by meetings, schedules, and endless issues. Her family mostly saw her on television. At the end of that year, she traveled to New York intending to fill every day with plans—but twisted her ankle. "Maybe heaven knew that even during rest, I’d still push myself too hard, so it forced me to slow down," she wrote.
She later returned to a busy life—campaigning, entering the Legislative Yuan, attending meetings, conducting interrogations, handling bills and petitions—one task after another, never able to stop. This time, having finally regained her freedom, she wants to set her own pace. She remains committed to staying true to herself, choosing what’s worth investing in and knowing when to pause, clarifying what she truly needs.
Huang also shared recent updates: in recent years, she has seriously committed to regular exercise. Only by stepping into the mountains did she realize some views cannot be seen from inside a car; some paths can only be walked step by step. Exercise has also introduced her to a wonderful group of companions.
"These past six months haven’t been idle—I’ve just changed my speed. Taking better care of my body, working diligently, and seriously appreciating scenery beyond work. Returning to simpler human relationships. In the past, I always believed life had to keep charging forward. Now I understand: some paths shouldn’t be rushed. Walking slower allows you to see farther ahead," she concluded.
