The Tourism Bureau's 2026 national travel subsidy will officially launch on September 1, primarily offering discounts for weekday travel. In general areas, the first night of weekday accommodation is subsidized up to 800 NTD, and the second night up to 1,200 NTD. For islands, the first night is subsidized 1,000 NTD, and the second night 1,500 NTD. Additionally, there are 1,200 NTD birthday accommodation vouchers and other plans. Starting today (August 24), residents with ID numbers ending in 8 or 9 can register first, and others can proceed according to the scheduled times. The registration period for weekday accommodation subsidies runs until November 30, with the first five days open in batches based on ID numbers, and full access from August 25. The bureau also offers a limited-time lottery campaign: complete registration by 5 PM on September 8 to participate in the birthday accommodation voucher lottery. Results will be announced on September 9, and vouchers can be used from September 10. If you travel to islands like Matsu, Penghu, Green Island, Orchid Island, Kinmen, and Xiaoliuqiu, the subsidy amounts are higher: 1,000 NTD for the first night, and if you stay consecutively at the same accommodation, an additional 1,500 NTD for the second night, totaling up to 2,500 NTD. However, when booking for the national weekday accommodation subsidy, you can only book directly through the hotel's or homestay's official website, by phone, or through a domestic travel agency. You must provide a legal accommodation receipt or invoice in the registration system to be eligible for the subsidy. International online booking platforms like Agoda, Booking.com, and Hotels.com cannot be used. The Tourism Bureau will select 1,000 birthday recipients each month, each eligible for 1,200 NTD in birthday accommodation subsidies. From September 1 to December 31, 2026, these can be used on any day of the month of your birthday and can be combined with weekday accommodation subsidies. If you have both the birthday accommodation subsidy and choose to stay for two consecutive nights on a weekday, you can receive up to 3,200 NTD in subsidies for mainland accommodations (1,200 NTD for birthday + 800 NTD for the first night + 1,200 NTD for the second night). For island accommodations, you can receive up to 3,700 NTD (1,200 NTD for birthday + 1,000 NTD for the first night + 1,500 NTD for the second night). The birthday accommodation subsidy is a pre-registration and lottery system. After the official system is open, you must register in advance on the official platform, log in to the 'National Travel Subsidy Lottery Platform,' and fill in your name, ID number, phone number, and birthday. You must also upload your ID for real-name authentication. The bureau will conduct a unified lottery on August 17, 2026. Winners will receive an SMS and email with an electronic voucher, which can be used from September 1 to December 31, 2026.
