Taiwan's current executive aircraft fleet consists of the Fokker 50 and Beechcraft 1900 (BH-1900). However, according to the Ministry of National Defense's 116th fiscal year budget document, the Air Force will allocate NT$12.55155 billion to procure 12 new 'multi-functional personnel aircraft' and associated equipment. The acquisition will be carried out gradually between 2027 and 2033, with the first two aircraft expected to arrive in Taiwan by 2030.
Regarding the 'Multi-functional Personnel Aircraft Procurement Program,' the Air Force stated it aims to achieve rapid restoration of command capabilities and secure transfer of key personnel, thereby enhancing flight safety. Additionally, considering maintenance logistics and parts commonality, the plan involves procuring aircraft models already in domestic operation. This approach is expected to boost domestic industrial development during peacetime and enable rapid conversion of civilian aviation capacity during wartime, achieving the goal of 'resilient defense and enhanced national war sustainability.'
According to the budget document, the first two aircraft are scheduled to arrive in Taiwan by 2030, followed by four aircraft each in 2031 and 2032, with the final two units delivered in 2033.
Currently, the aircraft serving as executive transports for the Air Force include the Fokker 50 and BH-1900 'Beechcraft 1900,' both twin-engine turboprop aircraft. However, both models have been in service for over 30 years, prompting the Air Force to approve the procurement of 12 new executive aircraft in August of this year.
