Lu Hsiu-yen Takes Leave to Accompany Taichung Candidates in Registration; Lin Ku-lung Notes Similar Actions in Kaohsiung and Tainan

Regarding public questions about Taichung Mayor Lu Hsiu-yen accompanying councilors and mayoral candidates during working hours for registration procedures, Taichung City Government Deputy Secretary-General Lin Ku-lung provided clarification. He stated that Mayor Lu had taken formal leave in accordance with legal procedures, with all documentation properly filed and verifiable through official city government records.

Lin Ku-lung emphasized that media inquiries regarding Mayor Lu's presence at candidate registrations required explanation. On the morning of September 2, Mayor Lu attended registration alongside Council Chairperson Chang Ching-chao and numerous other councilors upon their invitation. Similarly, on the morning of September 3, she accompanied additional candidates, all instances occurring during officially approved leave. The city government issued formal notices stating: 'Mayor Lu Hsiu-yen is on approved leave; duties during this period will be delegated to Deputy Mayor Huang Kuo-jung. Please take note.'

Lin stressed that Mayor Lu is a highly law-abiding and regulation-compliant political figure. He also noted media reports indicating that on the previous day, Tainan Mayor Huang Wei-cher and Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Chi-mai similarly accompanied local candidates during registration processes. It is reasonable to assume that both Tainan and Kaohsiung city governments followed applicable regulations and proper administrative protocols in these matters as well.
