The 'Xi-Trump meeting' appears to discuss U.S.-China relations, but Taiwan sees two very different Chinas: the first is the state China represented by the CCP, emphasizing national interests, sovereignty, security, national rejuvenation, and great power status. The second is the people on the streets, who talk about personal rights, family experiences, political freedom, historical memory, and their own treatment, trying to show the world their situation. On September 24, Xi Jinping met with U.S. President Trump in Washington. This is Xi Jinping's first visit to the U.S. since 2015 and the second face-to-face meeting this year. Trump even personally went to Andrews Joint Base to welcome Xi Jinping and received him with a grand military ceremony, showing that the White House deliberately raised the diplomatic level of this visit. Trump and Xi Jinping are scheduled to meet at the White House, and the Taiwan issue is almost certain to be on the table—regardless of how the final outcome is packaged, military sales, the status quo in the strait, and the expression of 'not supporting Taiwan independence' could all become bargaining chips. Taiwan's national security units have been fully monitoring and simulating since before the visit, and similarly, the CCP's national security system has been conducting large-scale intelligence gathering before the visit, forming a 'cyber war' across the airwaves.
