The Japan Mathematics Certification Association, which administers the Practical Mathematics Skill Certification ('Suken'), has announced the winners of the 34th Suken Grand Prix, honoring individuals and organizations that achieved outstanding results in the 2025 fiscal year.
A total of 25 organizations and 106 individuals were honored. The youngest recipient was 10 years old and the oldest was 79, demonstrating the test's widespread use as a tool for lifelong learning. The prominent presence of young awardees reflects the proactive learning of mathematics, which forms the foundation for data science and AI; such education is expected to become a force that supports the next generation.
The awards ceremony is scheduled to be held on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at Arcadia Ichigaya (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo).
<Breakdown of Awardees> Individual Awards: MEXT Minister's Award (6), Chairman's Award (5), Gold Award (19), Lifelong Learning Contribution Award (76). Organizational Awards: Selected across six categories including higher education, high schools, junior high schools, elementary schools, public educational groups, and general groups. The MEXT Minister's Award will be presented to five organizations across five categories.
