Eight Years Based in Shonai, and Beyond: SHONAI HOTEL SUIDEN TERRASSE and Tohoku University of Art and Design Launch a Practical Project Using the Hotel as a 'Field of Creation'.

Since its opening in 2018, SHONAI HOTEL SUIDEN TERRASSE has operated under the mission of 'producing regional charm and making Japanese regional cities a destination for the world,' delivering the nature, food, culture, and daily life of Shonai, Yamagata, through the guest experience. Shonai, where the sea, mountains, rivers, and plains are in close proximity, possesses landscapes and lifestyles nurtured by the four seasons. As a hotel based in Shonai, SUIDEN TERRASSE has continued various initiatives to convey the unique time and experiences of this land to visitors, serving as a hub connecting regional culture with travelers. In 2026, marking its 8th anniversary, SUIDEN TERRASSE will further develop its relationship with the region and move toward creating a new space for cultural dissemination and creation. Starting in June 2026, the co-creation project 'C/C/C Field Works' with the Department of Graphic Design at Tohoku University of Art and Design will officially begin. This project was launched by volunteer students and aims to expand its activities to various places through regional expression and fieldwork, starting with activities at SUIDEN TERRASSE. The project name 'C/C/C' stands for Creative, Cultivated, and Cultural. An art book event is also scheduled for September 19-20, 2026, as part of the 8th-anniversary commemoration.
