Taketora, a specialty manufacturer of bamboo materials and products since its establishment in 1894 (Meiji 27), operated by Yamagishi Bamboo Material Store Co., Ltd., has resumed sales of the "Toratake Washi Business Cards (100 cards/set)" after a long period of being out of stock for several years. The Toratake Washi Business Cards, woven from the nature of Kochi and the skills of artisans, are a special item that requires numerous handcrafting steps and a long time to complete. They are scheduled to be delivered from mid-June onwards, once the decorative box is ready.

Toratake Washi Business Cards are special washi paper for business cards created using Kochi's traditional Tosa Washi-making techniques, with rare Torafudake (tiger bamboo) from Kochi Prefecture's Susaki City Anwa as the raw material. They are characterized by their simple texture of bamboo fibers, moist feel, and elegant golden color, and are compatible with home printers as well as commercial printing.

The raw Torafudake bamboo is soaked in water for a long period, and then individually pounded with mallets by artisans until it is finely crushed to a state suitable for papermaking. Subsequently, Tosa Washi artisans meticulously finish each sheet through numerous processes, including paper making using a deckle box, natural drying, iron plate drying, and selection.

As Toratake bamboo is a natural material, no two pieces are exactly alike, and the charm of seeing a different expression each year is also a highlight.

The finished Toratake Washi paper has a simple texture with faint bamboo fibers remaining, and a finish that conveys the warmth unique to natural materials. The Toratake Washi Business Cards, housed in a dedicated decorative box of 100 cards, can be widely used not only for corporate and store business cards but also for product cards and shop cards.

In recent years, digitalization has advanced, and online interactions have increased. However, business cards, handed over to someone for the first time, remain an important communication tool connecting people. Within the few seconds of exchanging business cards, the company, the store, and even the person's character can be conveyed.

This is why Taketora considers business cards not merely as paper for conveying contact information, but as a form of "hospitality" to welcome customers. The moment one touches the different texture and feel from ordinary business cards, conversations may arise, such as "What kind of paper is this?" Toratake Washi Business Cards add a small surprise and impression to the business card exchange, helping corporations, stores, and artists convey their intended messages and stories.

Tiger bamboo nurtured by Kochi's nature, the handwork of Taketora's artisans, pure spring water, and the techniques of Tosa Washi artisans – all are imbued in a single sheet of washi paper. The material feel that cannot be achieved through mass production, and the Toratake Washi Business Cards with their unique expression for each sheet, are sure to be a special item that remains in the memory of the recipient.
