Ayase to Release First Self-Produced EP 'dialogue' on May 27

Ayase, widely known as the composer for YOASOBI—the unit that turns novels into music and has dominated domestic charts while achieving global success—also provides music for various artists. He has contributed tracks to a wide range of artists, including the highly talked-about collaboration 'Saikai' by LiSA × Uru, 'Senya Ichiya' by Hey! Say! JUMP, the unit 'Vivid BAD SQUAD' from the popular mobile game 'Project SEKAI COLORFUL STAGE! feat. Hatsune Miku', 'Shinkai' by Nana Mori, and 'Yuke' by LiSA. In 2021 and 2022, he secured the #1 spot on Billboard JAPAN's 'TOP Composers' and 'TOP Lyricists' annual charts for two consecutive years. His self-covers of his Vocaloid tracks are highly acclaimed, with 'Yoru Naderu Menou' surpassing 100 million streaming plays. In September 2022, he released the double A-side digital single 'Houwa / Cinema', featuring his first original track. He released 'SHOCK!', his first anime opening theme for 'Buddy Daddies', in January 2023, followed by 'Hiten', the opening theme for 'Rurouni Kenshin -Meiji Kenkaku Romantan-', in July. Now, he has announced the release of his first 5-track EP as a singer-songwriter, titled 'dialogue', on Wednesday, May 27, 2026. The jacket and new artist photos have also been revealed. This is an entirely self-produced work, with Ayase personally handling the lyrics, composition, arrangement, and vocals for all tracks. Sublimating his true emotions born from daily life and music activities into music, the EP bundles songs created around the theme of 'dialogue'—with himself, various people and events he interacts with, and society. Composed entirely of non-tie-up tracks, it embodies a more personal and raw Ayase, distinct from his previous expressions, by singing songs written for himself with his own voice.

Ahead of the EP, the advance single 'Urusa' will be digitally released on Wednesday, May 20. It is a danceable electro-tune with rich developments, featuring an impressive sound that carves out a new frontier for Ayase. The EP features a variety of tracks, including the title track 'dialogue', where old-school essence intersects with modern sensibility, and 'PLANETS', which depicts emotions born in dialogues and his self-reflection on a cosmic scale over vivid melodies. Look forward to this work, which can be seen as the 'origin and starting point' of his solo artist career, reached through his journey as a Vocaloid producer, singer-songwriter, and YOASOBI composer. Comment from Ayase I am thrilled to release my first EP under the name Ayase solo. Running as YOASOBI's composer for about 7 years, I couldn't erase the desire to sing. Encouraged by the words of the staff and important people who have always supported me close by, I was able to express it as a single body of work. Since forming YOASOBI to this day, I believe I have continued to face music, people, society, my partner, and myself seriously in my own way. I feel that I was able to firmly enclose my current thoughts, conflicts, and wishes from living that way into these 5 songs. Both YOASOBI and Ayase will be going even harder from here on.
