Tokyo Metro Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Taito-ku, Tokyo; President: Akihiro Kosaka, hereinafter "Tokyo Metro") and Matilda Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Yuka Maruyama, hereinafter "Matilda") will hold a one-day limited robot programming experience collaboration event, "Let's Run a Car-Type Robot! First Robot Programming," on August 16 (Sun) at the Harumi school of "Tokyo Metro x Proglab," a children's robot programming school operated by Tokyo Metro Educational Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo; President: Masayoshi Otaka, hereinafter "Tokyo Metro Educational").
This event is a collaborative event co-created by "Tokyo Metro x Proglab," which has 16 schools mainly along the Tokyo Metro lines and is guided by the philosophy of "nurturing the "power to realize dreams" in children who will lead the future," and Matilda, which provides new mid-meal services that blend into the city with the mission of "creating a society where children can be innocent." A similar event was held last August, receiving positive feedback from participants such as "both parents and children had a fulfilling time," making it a highly satisfying event. Based on this track record, this year the content has been partially refined and will be held at Proglab Harumi school with Matilda's planning and operational cooperation.
The program is divided into two sessions, morning and afternoon. The morning session is for children from kindergarten to the first grade of elementary school, and the afternoon session is for children from the second to third grade of elementary school. Participants will receive "Tokyo Metro original notebooks and rulers" and "train cards" as souvenirs.
Going forward, Tokyo Metro, together with Tokyo Metro Educational, will continue to deliver high-quality educational services for children who will lead the future, aiming to enhance the appeal of its lines and regions and create prosperity.
About the Collaboration Event "Tokyo Metro x Proglab" x Matilda: "Let's Run a Car-Type Robot! First Robot Programming"
1. Overview
(1) Event Content
This event is a one-day limited programming experience event for children from kindergarten to the third grade of elementary school, as part of Matilda's "Summer Vacation Free Study Workshop Series." It will be held as a joint project between "Tokyo Metro x Proglab" and Matilda. The "LEGO® Education SPIKETM Prime Core Set" will be used as teaching material, and children will build robots with their own hands. Through the trial and error of programming and moving the robots, they will learn about programming in a fun way, as if playing, and foster their intellectual curiosity.
Worksheets will also be provided, so participants will not only assemble and operate the robots but also present their created robots at the end.
Additionally, there will be a photo session wearing Tokyo Metro uniforms, making it an event that can be enjoyed as a summer vacation memory.
