Tokyu Resorts & Stay Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; President & CEO: Kenichi Yamawaki) announced that "Tokyu Stay Gotanda" (Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo; General Manager: Yasufumi Onari, hereinafter "the hotel"), which it operates in Higashi-Gotanda, Shinagawa-ku, commenced full renovation work on Monday, May 11, 2026. The entire hotel will be closed during the renovation period, with a grand reopening scheduled for November 2026.
The hotel's design concept is "Urban Sanctuary," aiming to refresh the space into a "cultural retreat" where guests can naturally feel relaxed amidst the city's hustle and bustle.

Background of the Renovation: "Recovery" and "Sensibility" Demanded in the City
In recent years, the Gotanda area has seen increasing demand for both business and tourism, leading to diverse lodging styles. At the same time, precisely because of its proximity to the city's vibrancy, there's a growing need for "tranquility" to refresh mind and body during travel or work, and for "experiential value" that stimulates sensibility during a trip.
Based on Tokyu Stay's cherished concept of "comfortable stays like living," the hotel aims to provide a stay where guests can relax and encounter art in the city, leading to the formulation of the "Urban Sanctuary" design concept.
Fusion of Relaxing Space and Art
This renovation, under the "Urban Sanctuary" design concept, aims to create a stay experience that allows guests to rest their mind and body and open their sensibilities, serving as a peaceful retreat even while in the city.
In addition to improving the convenience of common areas and enhancing the comfort of guest rooms, the design will be centered on the aesthetic of JAPANDI (Japanese and Scandinavian), combining Japanese tranquility and spaciousness with Nordic simplicity and functionality. This creates a balance of calm and comfort, with soft earth tones, natural wood textures, and gentle indirect lighting composing the space. Beyond visual tranquility, the design focuses on a relaxation and wellness experience that allows for natural transitions between on and off during the stay. Furthermore, artworks will be placed throughout the hotel, creating a space where guests not only "stay" but also "feel," delivering an experience where their stay and sensibilities resonate.

An Art-Filled Stay Experience from Entrance to Guest Room
Integrating art with the stay is one of the key features of this renovation. The artwork and space decoration will be carried out in collaboration with "K ART Corp.," which also partnered for the renovation of Tokyu Stay Nihonbashi.
The entrance will be reorganized as an "art gallery" open to the city. While integrated with the hotel, it will transform into a place where guests can encounter art as an extension of their daily lives. Additionally, 18 "Art Rooms (tentative)" by two artists are planned to be newly established in some guest rooms, offering an immersive stay experience that goes beyond mere appreciation of art, aiming to enrich the urban stay itself.
Tokyu Stay Gotanda's Initiatives to Connect City, People, and Culture
The hotel will continuously promote collaborative projects that gently connect with the city of Gotanda. Through art exhibitions and workshops in collaboration with local businesses and creators, it will create opportunities for the city, people, and culture to intersect.
By curating and disseminating content to make "staying here an experience of touching the charm of Gotanda," the hotel will serve as a hub, fostering projects that connect guests with the local community from Tokyu Stay Gotanda's unique perspective.
