The 'Library Research Contest'® (organized by the Japan Library Foundation), which will celebrate its 30th anniversary in fiscal year 2026, will now be sponsored by the Japan Arts Council, an independent administrative agency that operates the National Theatre and other facilities.

The Japan Arts Council is committed to raising awareness of traditional Japanese performing arts. With the desire for many people to become interested in traditional Japanese performing arts through research-based learning, they have decided to sponsor this contest and establish the 'National Theatre Award.' This award will be presented to works that research traditional Japanese performing arts.

We hope that this opportunity will encourage entries on the theme of traditional Japanese performing arts from all over the country.
