Total Media Development Institute Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President & CEO: Kenichiro Yamamura) is pleased to announce that the permanent exhibition "Unread Universe" at the National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation (Miraikan), for which we handled the exhibition design and production, has won the "iF Design Award 2026," one of the most prestigious design awards in the world.

Following the Japan Kukan Design Award 2025 (ShortList), the Good Design Award 2025, the 59th Japan Sign Design Award (Selected), and the Tokyo ADC Award 2025 (Selected), this project has now garnered further international acclaim.

"Unread Universe" is a permanent exhibition that opened at Miraikan in April 2025. It allows visitors to learn about the research of scientists attempting to decipher the universe by observing and experimenting with particles and waves invisible to the human eye, utilizing devices of unimaginable scale.

The four exhibition zones—multi-wavelength observation, gravitational wave observation, neutrino observation, and particle accelerator experiments—feature interactive elements where experts in each field initiate video calls with visitors. Through this experience of conducting observations together, visitors can engage with the forefront of multi-messenger astronomy and particle physics.

The exhibition space, inspired by a "modern School of Athens," is designed as a place where people can converse while bathed in diverse cosmic data. Above the elliptical benches made of recycled cork, a large 360-degree screen projects visuals created from actual observation and experimental data.
