A 69-Year-Old's Challenge: Automating Fax Operations

TricoLogic, an AI startup from the University of Tokyo (Headquarters: Osaka, CEO: Masayuki Nishio), provided AI implementation support to Shinei Kakoh, a special printing and processing company (Headquarters: Tsurumi-ku, Osaka, CEO: Mr. Takeuchi). Through this initiative, Mr. Kitamura (69, with no programming experience) successfully developed an automated system for fax ordering using generative AI, resulting in approximately 80 hours of operational savings per month.

Background of the Project

At Shinei Kakoh, daily manual fax ordering operations had become chronic, consuming approximately 80 hours per month. Identifying this 'immediate inefficiency,' Mr. Kitamura, with support from TricoLogic, began developing an automated system by using generative AI as his dialogue partner.

Development Overview and Achievements

Mr. Kitamura utilized Google Sheets and GAS (Google Apps Script) to complete an end-to-end processing system—from inputting order data to automatically sending E-Faxes—in just two months. He independently developed 700 to 800 lines of code. The system has processed 1,600 orders over 50 days with zero errors, showcasing high accuracy.

As a result of this initiative, the need for staff to stand in line at the fax machine has been eliminated, and a momentum for AI adoption has spread to younger employees, creating a positive ripple effect of DX throughout the entire organization.
