Shimane Prefectural University Matsue Campus Library holds literary materials left by Shimane-based writers Hekigun Okuhara (1873-1935), Suiren Kono (1884-1941), and Shisei Nomiumi (1885-1915). These three writers were associated with the Meiji-era literary magazine 'Myojo' published by the Shin-shisha, and they contributed significantly to the development of literary activities in the San'in region.

To preserve and utilize these valuable materials donated by the writers' families, the library is sequentially publishing digital images online.

Among the materials, magazines such as 'Michishibo' (Futabakai) and 'Unohana' (Chuo Kabunkai Izumo Hirata Branch), both published in the Izumo region, provide insights into the poetry scene of Izumo during the Meiji era. Additionally, the cover of 'Ginrei' (Ginreisha), published in the Iwami region, features a vibrant design by the graphic designer Hisui Sugiura (1876-1965).

Furthermore, the poetry manuscripts of Hekigun Okuhara and Suiren Kono, both containing editorial corrections by Tekkan Yosano, are significant as they led to the publication of works in the magazine 'Myojo'. We encourage you to explore these materials.
