Viatris Inc., a global healthcare company, and Ubie, a medical AI startup, have launched a disease awareness project aimed at increasing public understanding of Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) and supporting appropriate medical consultation for potential patients. GAD is characterized by chronic anxiety and worry, but patients often mistake these symptoms for personality traits, making it difficult to recognize as a medical condition. By combining Viatris's expertise in the psychiatric field with Ubie's AI platform, which serves over 13 million monthly users, the project aims to create new touchpoints for patients who previously lacked access to proper medical information. Both companies are committed to improving patients' quality of life and promoting public health by facilitating early diagnosis. GAD involves excessive, uncontrollable worry about daily life events and can manifest as physical symptoms. While the lifetime prevalence in Japan is reported at 2.6%, many patients remain undiagnosed. Through the 'Ubie' AI service, users can input symptoms to receive information on GAD and find nearby medical institutions, bridging the gap to professional care.
