Wakayama: Experience Plum Harvesting, Making, and Tasting during Golden Week at Japan's Best Plum Village - Senrian Co., Ltd.

Senrian Co., Ltd. is holding a "Plum Experience" event in Minabe town, Wakayama, during Golden Week on May 4th (Monday) and May 5th (Tuesday), 2026. The event offers two sessions daily: 10:00-11:30 and 12:30-14:00. The experience includes three main activities: 1. **Plum Field Visit**: A brief interaction with fresh Nanko plums in a plum field adjacent to the Senrian store. 2. **My Plum Rice Ball Making**: Participants choose two types from Senrian's "Plum Color Assortment" (10 varieties) to make their own plum rice balls. The activity also introduces Minabe town's "Rice Ball Ordinance," which promotes the local umeboshi culture. 3. **My Plum Syrup Making**: Using frozen Nanko plums, participants make their own plum syrup. This method allows for a faster maturation period of 1-3 weeks, compared to 1-3 months for syrups made with room-temperature plums. Participants can create custom labels for their unique syrup bottles. The participation fee is 5,000 JPY (tax included) per adult, which includes all material costs and one bottle of plum syrup to take home. One child (elementary or junior high school student) can participate for free per adult, with additional children costing 2,500 JPY. High school students are charged adult rates, and pre-school children are not eligible. Payment is collected on the day of the event. The event duration is 1.5 hours, and the deadline for registration is May 3rd, 2026. Each day is limited to 10 groups, with a minimum of 4 participants required.
