The cafeteria's name, "UNION PLUS," was chosen from 231 entries submitted by co-op members. The name reflects the hope that it will be a place where comfort and human connections are born, in addition to meals. "UNION PLUS" is envisioned as a "campus living room" where students can not only eat but also chat with friends or relax alone. The Biwako-Kusatsu Campus is a suburban campus with many science faculties, characterized by students spending relatively long hours on campus. "UNION PLUS" perfectly matches Ritsumeikan Co-op's concept of "CAMPUS Living" – aiming to be a "university living room" rather than just a place to eat. The nickname "Unipura" has already become established among the staff. The interior has a food court-like atmosphere with various sections offering set meals, noodles, and rice bowls. Recommended menu items include the "Yurinchi Teishoku," which was very popular at the old store, and the "Seafood Tonkotsu Shoyu Mazesoba," created by the manager after repeated trials, known for its richコク and umami. A highlight of this renewal is the LIVE corner, where "Tenshinhan" is cooked to order, allowing customers to enjoy freshly made, hot dishes. Visiting "UNION PLUS" is sure to be an exciting and delightful experience, offering a new and special feeling different from previous cafeterias. The National Federation of University Co-operative Associations publishes information on cafeterias and retail facilities of member co-ops based on interviews. We hope that university officials nationwide will view this information and use it as a reference when considering welfare facilities for students and faculty.
