Background of the Lecture
JHBA's membership includes physicians such as occupational health doctors, as well as corporate HR and health management officers. Aesthetic medicine is a field that affects not only physical appearance but also self-esteem and mental health. How users make informed decisions amid information asymmetry is a significant learning topic for occupational physicians and HR professionals. UpToU, through its platform 'W/Beauty,' engages daily with users’ treatment records and decision-making processes. The organization was invited to speak from a unique perspective—clinic operations and user decision-making—distinct from that of physicians.
This lecture is categorized under 'Frontline of Preventive Medicine and Well-being,' reflecting a growing recognition of aesthetic medicine not as treatment for illness, but as a preventive and investment domain aimed at enhancing the performance and well-being of the working generation. The lecture also touches on corporate trends of incorporating aesthetic medicine into employee benefits, emphasizing the need for systems that not only provide financial support but also help each employee choose the right treatment for themselves.
Comment from CEO Maiko Araki
'Aesthetic medicine is an area where individuals make their own choices, yet many struggle with decision-making due to information asymmetry. By sharing real-world insights with occupational physicians and corporate HR and health management officers, I hope to help them understand aesthetic medicine correctly within the context of 'well-being for the working generation.''
About 'W/Beauty'
Due to its nature as private-pay healthcare, aesthetic medicine lacks centralized data on treatment names, medications, prices, and physicians. As a result, users often rely solely on information from social media and similar sources for decision-making. 'W/Beauty' is a dedicated AI application for aesthetic medicine that centralizes this information, enabling users to base their decisions on their own personal records rather than others’ experiences, and delivering personalized experiences tailored to each individual.
