Wacoal Corp., a subsidiary of Wacoal Holdings Corp., announced the opening of the "Melooop Lab" in Minami-ku, Kyoto, in May 2026. This facility serves as a research and development hub for the proprietary "Melooop" technology, aiming to accelerate social implementation through co-creation with internal and external partners.

"Melooop" is a sustainable 3D molding technology characterized by its use of mono-materials, low waste production, and mold-free manufacturing. While previously utilized for Wacoal's "CW-X" sports bra cups and high-fashion collaborations like "doublet" at Paris Fashion Week, the lab will now focus on diversifying applications.

A key focus area is the automotive industry, where there is high demand for lightweight materials and versatile component designs. Wacoal is currently operating two machines at the lab, with plans to expand to a four-machine system by the end of the year. The facility represents a shift from traditional apparel manufacturing to high-tech industrial applications, leveraging over 60 years of data from the Wacoal Human Science Research and Development Center to balance sustainability with high functionality.
