Waseda University's Continuing Education Office (WASEDA NEO) will launch the Certificate Program 'Designated Training for Child and Family Social Worker Qualification' starting August 2026. This program builds upon the designated training previously conducted at Waseda University's Center for the Study of Human Dynamics in 2024-2025, offering an even more enhanced curriculum.
The program consists of 100.5 hours of training, combining on-demand lectures (33 hours), in-person workshops (45 hours), and online live sessions (22.5 hours), enabling participants to acquire practical, hands-on learning through exercises.
In-person workshops held at the Nihonbashi Campus will also facilitate the construction of professional networks that transcend job roles and regions.

Overview of 'Designated Training for Child and Family Social Worker Qualification'
Period: August 1, 2026 - December 31, 2026
Format: In-person workshops (45 hours) + On-demand lectures (33 hours) + Live sessions (22.5 hours) (Total: 100.5 hours)
Tuition Fee: 330,000 JPY (tax included) *Eligible for Education and Training Benefits System (Specific General Training)
Capacity: 40 participants

Target Audience: Individuals working in child guidance centers, local governments, child welfare facilities, etc., with at least two years of counseling experience after obtaining qualifications as a Certified Social Worker or Certified Psychiatric Social Worker.
*Only applicants who have passed the screening for eligibility under Route 1 from the Japan Social Work Center are eligible to apply.

【Four Key Points of This Program】
① Designated Training for Child and Family Social Worker (100.5 hours)
This is a designated training program certified by the Japan Social Work Center (Certification Number: 2025-1-35). Completion grants eligibility to take the examination for the Child and Family Social Worker qualification.
② Certificate Program
Upon successful completion, Waseda University will issue a 'Certificate of Completion' in addition to the 'Certificate of Qualification' required for the examination (based on Article 105 of the School Education Act). This certificate can be listed in the educational background section of a resume.
③ Program for Fostering Practical Professional Skills (BP)
This program is certified by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology's 'Brush up Program for Professionals' (BP).
④ Education and Training Benefits System (Specific General Training)
Up to 50% of the tuition fee paid by the participant will be reimbursed. Application to the Hello Work (Public Employment Security Office) is required prior to enrollment.
【What is a Certificate Program?】
This system was established to further promote the social contribution of universities by actively accepting adult learners. It offers educational programs for working adults that are useful for career advancement and re-employment, allowing for shorter learning periods compared to degree programs. Certificates are positioned as development programs based on the School Education Act, and upon completion, participants receive a 'Certificate of Completion' from the university, which can be listed in the educational background section of their resume.
