Wataya Ryokan (Saga Prefecture, Ureshino City, Representative Director: Kaehito Kohara, hereinafter 'Wataya Ryokan') will host a POPUP event by 'trans-Modern (Trans-Modern)' from August 2, 2026 (Sun) to August 16, 2026 (Sun). This POPUP will introduce the first original products by trans-Modern, 't-M Lamp 01' and 't-M Lamp 02', which are designed to complement modern living.

Wataya Ryokan continuously hosts POPUP events under the theme of 'Encountering Good Things in Japan During Your Stay,' introducing craftsmanship, design, and culture nurtured in various parts of Japan.

An inn is not only a place to spend the night but also a place to encounter new values and aesthetics.

In this POPUP, you can experience the richness and comfort in living through the lighting and space design proposed by trans-Modern. At the venue, fragrance designer Ryushi Hotta of the Japanese Incense Company's fragrance brand 'Yohaku' will spray a special fragrance designed with trans-Modern in mind throughout the space.

Enjoy this five-sense experience, where light, fragrance, and tea resonate, available only during this period.

◇ Brand's First Original Product 't-M Lamp'

The 't-M Lamp' on display and for sale this time is trans-Modern's first original product.

The design is by Shuzo Saruyama, who is active in various fields such as graphics, products, space, and music.

The production is carefully crafted one by one by Kao Seisakusho, which has metal processing technology.

By combining a classical aluminum shade with a base made by modern precision machining, a product that reinterprets traditional design codes in a modern way has been born.

We will exhibit and sell the pendant type 't-M Lamp 01' and the 't-M Lamp 02' with a 2-way design that can also be wall-mounted.

With dimming function, it can be used in various spaces such as houses, accommodations, and stores.

◇ Special Collaboration with Night Tea Salon 'Tea Salon TSUBAKI'

The tables and study spaces in TSUBAKI are coordinated with trans-Modern's lighting 't-M Lamp'. In the quiet space created by the soft light, you can actually experience living with lighting.

Furthermore, for this POPUP, we will provide an original non-alcoholic tea cocktail inspired by trans-Modern.

Enjoy a moment when light and tea come together in the night of TSUBAKI, which has the concept of 'Elsewhere × Blank Space × Aftertaste'. Instead of 'seeing' the lighting, by actually spending time in a space with light and tasting tea, you can experience the aesthetic of living proposed by trans-Modern with all five senses.

◇ Yohaku × trans-Modern Special Fragrance Workshop

We will hold a special fragrance workshop by the fragrance brand 'Yohaku' of the Japanese Incense Company and trans-Modern. Using a special fragrance oil blended by fragrance designer Ryushi Hotta based on the worldview of trans-Modern's lighting 't-M Lamp', participants will create their own fragrance bags based on the scent. Quiet light created by lighting, the texture of materials, the beauty of blank space.

A special program limited to one day where you can experience the design philosophy proposed by trans-Modern from the new sensation of 'fragrance'.

In addition, on the day, we plan to provide tea paired with Mr. Hotta's fragrance by Daisuke Miyashita of the night tea salon 'Tea Salon TSUBAKI' located in Wataya Ryokan to the participating customers.
