The WiCON Steering Committee (comprising the Information and Communications Network Industry Association, the Japan Association for the Promotion of Regional Informationization, and the National Institute of Technology) has selected 21 teams out of 58 applicants for the WiCON2026 wireless technology contest. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the program. The number of applications reached a record high of 58, significantly exceeding last year's 41. Following a rigorous selection process, 21 teams were chosen. Each selected team will receive 1 million JPY to support their technical demonstrations over a nine-month period. The final competition is scheduled to be held on February 22, 2027, at the Ito International Research Center of the University of Tokyo.
