With Midwife Inc. (Headquarters: Osaka City, Osaka Prefecture, CEO: Seigetsu Kishihata, hereinafter referred to as 'With Midwife') has been conducting a trial operation of 'Jicca Nakano,' a postpartum care apartment complex with the concept of 'returning home in the city,' since March 2026, in collaboration with Akachan Honpo Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Osaka City, Osaka Prefecture, President: Kenji Aji, hereinafter referred to as 'Akachan Honpo') and Daito Trust Construction Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo, President and CEO: Kei Takeuchi, hereinafter referred to as 'Daito Trust Construction').
This initiative is a collaborative case born from the 'CVC and SME/Startup Matching Support Project' promoted by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, and it aims to verify the potential of 'home-style postpartum care,' which is neither a hospital nor a hotel, by leveraging the respective strengths of the three companies.
Jicca Nakano has been used by over 100 families raising babies during its trial operation. As the trial operation nears its end, we are releasing the 'Jicca Nakano User Voice Report' based on the voices and experiences of users.
News Highlights
Over 100 mothers and fathers were supported at the postpartum care apartment 'Jicca Nakano' during its trial operation from March to the end of June 2026. The most common age of the babies at the time of use was 1 month old, with those under 3 months old accounting for approximately 60% of the total.
The top 3 concerns of users were 'sleep deprivation,' 'physical recovery/discomfort,' and 'breastfeeding/formula concerns.' The request rate for counseling by midwives was 71.4%, revealing a need for individualized support from professionals, not just rest.
As the demonstration period draws to a close, the 'Jicca Nakano User Voice Report' based on user voices and experiences will be released. As a token of appreciation, a special ticket offering a one-night stay for 44,000 yen (tax included) will be issued.
Background | Postpartum Care Needs More Than Just Rest – A Place to Organize Family Life
The period before and after childbirth is the most critical time for a family, when maternal recovery and the establishment of life with the couple and baby occur simultaneously, requiring significant support. The data from this trial operation also showed 'sleep deprivation,' 'physical recovery/discomfort,' and 'breastfeeding/formula concerns' as top issues, reaffirming the need for mental and physical rest for parents and childcare support from professionals.
While municipal postpartum care services are expanding, there are variations in reservation slots, eligible infant ages, usage frequency, and whether family members can stay, depending on the region and facility. Private postpartum care hotels are also gaining attention, but not all families seek a luxurious stay after childbirth. We believe that widely accessible postpartum care should provide a place at a reasonable price where babies can be safely looked after, professionals can be consulted, and postpartum life can be organized in an environment as close to home as possible.
As 'home-style postpartum care,' distinct from hospitals or hotels, Jicca Nakano has provided support in an apartment setting with midwives present, offering baby monitoring, childcare consultations, rest, and meal/cleaning services. This demonstration has confirmed diverse usage needs, ranging from short-term rest to medium-to-long-term alternatives to returning to one's parents' home.

Trial Operation Results | Over 100 Experiences, Strong Need for Families with Babies Under 3 Months Old
From March to the end of June 2026, Jicca Nakano supported over 100 mothers, fathers, and relatives. Users utilized Jicca Nakano in various ways, not limited to mothers and babies staying alone; fathers and babies stayed, grandmothers accompanied them, some came directly from maternity hospitals, twins families used the service, and stays ranged from short-term refreshers to about a month.
Analysis of infant age at the time of use based on application and reservation data showed that out of 122 valid data points, 44 cases were for use or desired use at 1 month old, which was the highest. Combined with 0, 1, and 2 months old, there were 77 cases, accounting for approximately 63% of the total. This indicates a high need for support in sleep, maternal recovery, breastfeeding consultations, and childcare setup for families in the early postpartum period, especially those with babies under 3 months old.
Furthermore, a total of 296 responses to concerns were collected, with 'sleep deprivation' (80 cases), 'physical recovery/discomfort' (79 cases), and 'breastfeeding/formula concerns' (61 cases) being the most frequent.
The request rate for counseling by midwives was 71.4%, revealing a need not just for accommodation and rest, but also for individualized consultations with professionals to organize postpartum life.
Free-form comments included requests such as 'I want to have some time to myself,' 'I want to talk to parents with babies of the same age,' 'I want to practice childcare skills with my partner,' and 'I want to discuss the environment after returning home.' Jicca Nakano is expected to serve as a 'preparation period' not only for resting with peace of mind while the baby is cared for, but also for the family to set up childcare and transition to life at home.
User Voice Report | The Value of 'Home-Style Postpartum Care' Revealed Through the Voices of 12 Individuals
The 'Jicca Nakano User Voice Report' being released today organizes the value required for home-style postpartum care based on the experiences of 12 users who actually stayed at Jicca Nakano.
Users provided feedback such as:
"Just being able to leave the baby overnight and sleep, it's amazing how much my mind and body reset."
"Receiving help with childcare during postpartum care is not being spoiled; resting the mother's body is also part of childcare."
"The room felt like a real home, and I felt much more relaxed than with postpartum care at a hotel or hospital."
"A monthly or weekly apartment with a midwife on duty would be an extremely valuable facility for dual-income couples."
These voices indicate that postpartum care is needed not only for the mother's rest but also as 'home-style care' for families to begin childcare.
Jicca Nakano has aimed not for a luxurious hotel experience, but for 'another home' where postpartum families can relax. The sense of security provided by the presence of midwives, combined with a living space close to daily life, is what allowed users to describe Jicca as 'like my parents' home.'

Message from the Representative
Seigetsu Kishihata, Representative Director and Midwife, With Midwife Inc.
During the trial operation of Jicca Nakano, we were once again reminded that 'postpartum care is not just for the mother and baby.' Fathers and babies stayed while working. Dads played with their babies during breaks and practiced childcare after work.
We also had a case where a grandmother visited to learn about the latest childcare methods! Sometimes things are difficult for mothers to convey directly... we can communicate them based on scientific evidence.
Leaving the baby with a midwife to sleep soundly.
Consulting a midwife about childcare concerns whenever needed.
Going out with your partner for the first time in a while.
Learning childcare together with grandparents.
Each of these moments was a valuable time for recovery and preparation for postpartum families.
By having midwives present in a living space close to daily life, not a hospital or hotel, we can create a place where postpartum families feel they can 'rely on us.' I believe this user voice report demonstrates that potential through the words of our users.
Although the trial operation continues, I express my sincere gratitude to all the families who have nurtured Jicca Nakano so far. We look forward to your continued support.
