WOTA Inc. launched 'WOTA Duo™,' a water infrastructure best-mix diagnostic service for municipalities, water utilities, and water consultants, on July 17, 2026.
This service visualizes regional differences in water infrastructure costs using maps and data, identifying priority areas for decentralization and comparing economic outcomes. This supports the creation of water infrastructure plans based on a 'best-mix' of centralized and decentralized systems derived from objective data.
Additionally, a 'National Decentralization Potential Map,' created based on a simplified model from WOTA Duo™, is being offered for free to municipalities, water utilities, and consultants until September 30, 2026.
'WOTA Duo™' uses GIS data, including water facilities, pipelines, and population projections, to compare estimated costs (annualized life-cycle costs) per water meter and identify areas where decentralization should be prioritized. It quantitatively demonstrates the cost-reduction effects of combining decentralized systems with existing centralized infrastructure.
Currently, the service is being piloted in 10 municipalities across Japan, where it is utilized for objective data-based explanations and consensus building.
