【Yokogawa Electric】Enhanced Cybersecurity Measures for Integrated Control and Safety System, CENTUM VP and ProSafe-RS, and Related Software

Yokogawa Electric Corporation (Headquarters: Musashino, Tokyo; President and CEO: Hitoshi Shigeno) announces that its integrated production control system 'CENTUM VP' and safety instrumented system 'ProSafe-RS', which are part of the OpreX Control and Safety System lineup, have obtained ISASecure SSA (System Security Assurance) Level 1 certification from the international security certification organization ISCI*1 as the 'Integrated Control and Safety System, CENTUM VP and ProSafe-RS'.

Additionally, the 'IT Security Tool', designed to enhance the security of our system products, has achieved CIS Benchmark certification from the CIS*2 (Center for Internet Security). Furthermore, the OPC interface package 'Exaopc' now supports the international standard OPC UA*3 (OPC Unified Architecture) defined by the OPC Foundation, strengthening the secure integration between information systems and control systems.

Overview of Security Enhancements

We have enhanced the cybersecurity measures for the Integrated Control and Safety System, CENTUM VP and ProSafe-RS, and related software in the following three areas:

- Integrated Control and Safety System, CENTUM VP and ProSafe-RS obtained ISASecure SSA Level 1 certification The ISASecure SSA certification is based on the international standard IEC 62443-3-3 for control system security. Achieving Level 1 indicates that a third-party organization has certified that the system meets the security requirements defined in IEC 62443-3-3. Customers can safely use a highly secure system compliant with international standards.

- 'IT Security Tool' obtained CIS Benchmark certification The 'IT Security Tool', a collection of security settings for hardening Windows computers installed with our system products like CENTUM VP and ProSafe-RS, has received CIS Benchmark certification. This certification is a best practice published by the US-based CIS for securely configuring systems. By utilizing this certified tool to configure security for our system products, security risks are further reduced.

- 'Exaopc' supports OPC UA OPC UA is an open international standard for secure and reliable data exchange in the industrial automation industry. With Exaopc supporting OPC UA, the security of communication between systems is further strengthened, preparing for cybersecurity risks.
