ZABoooN Inc. (Headquarters: Shimbashi, Minato-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Katsuya Todaka), the developer and operator of the ship management platform 'MARITIME 7', is pleased to announce that its 'Operational Compliance Efficiency using AI' project has been selected for the 'Triangle Ehime 2.0 FY2026 Continuing Adoption Project', an industrial promotion initiative driven by Ehime Prefecture.

◎ Project Background: Addressing the Challenges of Operational Compliance in the Shipping Industry

In the maritime industry, frequent amendments to international conventions and the increasing complexity of port state regulations constitute the most critical and burdensome aspects of ship operations. Currently, however, gathering information on treaty amendments and notifications, as well as determining their application, relies heavily on the 'experience' of veteran managers. This situation creates challenges such as the personalization of information, a black-box environment, and the risk of operational stoppages (off-hire) due to oversights.

This project will utilize AI technology to achieve 'automatic navigation of legal compliance' in maritime operations.

◎ Collaboration with Businesses in Ehime Prefecture (Implementation Partners)

The project will welcome multiple businesses in Ehime Prefecture, a region with a thriving shipping industry, as 'implementation partners'. Development will progress by reflecting realistic on-site needs and data.

[Project Overview]

Launched in FY2022, this project evolved into 'Triangle Ehime 2.0' in FY2025 to accelerate the implementation, establishment, and horizontal expansion of digital technologies. For FY2026, a new focus area, the 'Maritime Sector', has been established. Furthermore, an 'AI Talent Cultivation Framework' has been created in collaboration with the Matsuo-Iwasawa Laboratory at the University of Tokyo. This framework aims to develop job-ready AI professionals through student internships at AI companies, thereby encouraging the establishment of bases by out-of-prefecture companies, creating jobs, and accelerating problem-solving and economic revitalization in the prefecture.
