[Tokyo] "Male Parental Leave Promotion Leader Business Incentive" for Mid-sized and Small/Medium Enterprises in Tokyo: Second Round of Advance Entry Applications Now Open! Incentive of 1 Million Yen to be Awarded - Aiming to Increase Male Parental Leave Acquisition Rates in Tokyo Companies -

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government supports the creation of a work environment where men naturally take parental leave and both men and women can balance childcare and work, and is implementing the "Male Parental Leave Promotion Leader Installation Company" certification system. Companies that designate men who have taken a total of 30 days or more of parental leave as "Male Parental Leave Promotion Leaders" and conduct activities such as identifying issues, setting goals, and conducting in-house training to promote male parental leave within the company will be certified as "Male Parental Leave Promotion Leader Installation Companies." Furthermore, mid-sized and small/medium enterprises can receive an incentive (1 million yen) along with certification.

* "Ikugyo" is used by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government as a nickname for childcare leave, with the aim of fostering a social climate conducive to taking childcare leave.

Main Eligibility Criteria for Incentive Recipient Companies

Mid-sized and small/medium enterprises (with 1,000 or fewer regular employees) that meet the following requirements are eligible. - Must have their head office located in Tokyo and be operating a business in Tokyo. - Must have 5 or more regularly employed workers. These 5 workers must have been continuously employed for 6 months or more from their hiring date and be insured under employment insurance. Of these, 2 must be male. - Must have one or more group companies operating a business in Tokyo. - Must have had at least one male worker who took a total of 30 days or more of parental leave for the same child in the last 5 fiscal years. - The male parental leave acquisition rate in the fiscal year immediately preceding the grant application date must be 79% or less, among other requirements. * Other requirements apply.

Certification System Can Also Be Used Independently

Large enterprises can also receive certification, and mid-sized and small/medium enterprises can apply for certification only without utilizing the incentive. Companies that meet the application requirements and implement the prescribed activities, and meet the requirements, will be certified as "Male Parental Leave Promotion Leader Installation Companies."
