Illumina Obtains Insurance Coverage for 'TruSight Oncology Comprehensive' Panel System

Illumina announced that through a partnership with Sysmex Corporation, contract analysis using the 'TruSight Oncology Comprehensive' panel system for cancer genomic profiling will begin at RIKEN GENESIS. The test received insurance coverage in Japan effective June 1, 2026, marking Illumina's first CGP test to be covered in Asia. With approximately 20,000 CGP tests conducted annually in Japan, this coverage is expected to expand treatment options based on molecular information for cancer patients. The system comprehensively analyzes over 500 genes in a single test, examining both DNA and RNA variants to identify clinically significant biomarkers. This enables personalized medicine decisions for solid tumors, aiding in treatment selection and clinical trial participation. The test streamlines the workflow from tumor sample analysis to reporting. It was approved as a Class III Highly Controlled Medical Device by Japan's Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare in May 2025.
