Intel announced new innovations at Computex 2026 today, addressing AI needs from chip to system level through solutions optimized for industry-specific challenges.

Key highlights:

- New Rack-Scale AI Infrastructure: Announced rack-scale AI infrastructure based on Intel® Xeon® processors and SambaNova SN-50 Reconfigurable Dataflow Units (RDUs) for customers scaling inference and agentic workloads. - Agentic Cloud for Decentralized Inference: 'Vector Core Compute,' an enterprise inference-dedicated cloud, unveiled a fully decentralized inference solution running on Intel® Xeon® processors, SambaNova RDUs, and NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs. - Industry-Specific Deep Solutions: Focusing on integrated vertical customer solutions based on Intel processors and specialized silicon through strategic partnerships with industry leaders including Foxconn, Siemens, Hitachi, Echo Neurotechnologies, and Greenstone Biosciences. - Intel® Xeon® 6+ Processor: A next-generation data center CPU built on the Intel 18A process, designed for high-density, scale-out workloads. - Momentum in PC, Gaming Handhelds, and Physical AI: Expanding partner support and customer adoption for the Intel® Series 3 processor family.

Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan stated, "With the rise of inference AI, agentic AI, and physical AI, Intel is poised to deliver new innovations from chip to system level that transform industry and society for the better."

As AI training technology matures and more applications move into production, industry demand for cost-effective and power-efficient inference is skyrocketing. Ben Bajarin, CEO and principal analyst at Creative Strategies, commented, "In the training era, a ratio of four GPUs per CPU was common, but with the emergence of agentic inference, the ratio is shifting to one GPU (or less) per CPU."

To leverage this trend at the system level, Intel, SambaNova, Cisco, and Foxconn announced their intent to build rack-scale AI infrastructure based on Intel® Xeon® processors. Foxconn will provide system integration capabilities and plans to manufacture high-density, CPU-centric rack-scale infrastructure for workloads not requiring additional acceleration.
