Quel Inc. is pleased to announce its participation in two research and development projects for Phase 2 (FY2026-2030) of the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST)'s Moonshot Research and Development Program Goal 6: "Realizing fault-tolerant universal quantum computers that dramatically advance economy, industry, and national security by 2050" (Program Director: Katsuhiro Kitagawa).
The first project, "Development of Scalable Highly Integrated Quantum Error Correction Systems" (Project Manager: Kazuyoshi Kobayashi), will see CTO Takefumi Miyoshi participate as a project promoter. He will drive the research and development of high-precision and scalable control devices and control methods to achieve large-scale quantum computers with the accuracy required for fault-tolerant quantum computation.
The second project, "Fault-Tolerant Quantum Computers Realized with Scalable Functionally Integrated Ion Traps and Multi-Optical Connections" (Project Manager: Yuki Takahashi), will have Research Scientist Ryutaro Ohira participate as a project promoter. He will advance the development of classical control systems to support 100-qubit scale ion trap quantum computers, as well as research and development of essential elemental technologies for scaling up to 1000-qubit scale.
Through this program, our company will promote research and development towards the practical application and industrialization of fault-tolerant universal quantum computers.
