Grid Share Japan Inc. (President and CEO: Hitoshi Nishio, hereinafter "GSJ") and Kyocera Corporation (President and CEO: Hironori Shisa ku, hereinafter "Kyocera") announced that GSJ's AI optimal control service "Gridshare" (hereinafter "Gridshare") will begin supporting Kyocera's "Enerezza®" series of home storage batteries starting July 8, 2020 (Wed).

Gridshare is a next-generation energy management service that efficiently utilizes solar power generation by combining electricity rate plans, power usage status unique to each household, and predicted solar power generation based on weather. This collaboration will integrate the remote control system of the Enerezza series with Gridshare on the cloud, enabling optimal charge/discharge control of storage batteries.

The latest model in the series, "Enerezza® PlusII" (Enerezza Plus Two), is a home storage system capable of market transactions, including the capacity market and the supply-demand adjustment market (Note 1). In the future, through collaboration with Gridshare, we aim to develop market transaction services.

Through Gridshare, both companies will work to increase the self-consumption rate of solar power generation, contributing to reduced electricity bills and the promotion of a decarbonized society.

Note 1: Only Enerezza PlusII is a storage system compatible with the capacity market and supply-demand adjustment market.

Features of the AI Optimal Control Service "Gridshare" Customers using Enerezza series compatible devices can use the Gridshare service by applying through the GSJ website (https://www.gridshare.co.jp/apply/). Customers considering the purchase of new compatible devices can also apply through the same website.

1. AI Optimal Control for Effective Solar Power Utilization The AI accurately predicts solar power generation and electricity demand based on the next day's weather forecast and daily electricity usage. It maximizes economic benefits by utilizing surplus solar power without waste and utilizing electricity from cheaper time slots on rainy days, taking into account the customer's lifestyle and electricity rates. It also supports some market-linked electricity plans. 2. Maximizing Economic Efficiency The AI constantly executes optimal charging and discharging according to the electricity rate plan, maximizing the effect of reducing electricity bills. Furthermore, customers who own a Gridshare-compatible EcoCute can achieve integrated control of "storage battery x EcoCute." "Leave it to AI" to achieve both comfort and economic efficiency without hassle.

3. Participation in VPP (Virtual Power Plant) and Market Transactions GSJ will expand its VPP business by sequentially adding Enerezza series devices as control targets for home demand response. Enerezza PlusII is compatible with the capacity market and the supply-demand adjustment market, and we are considering joint participation in market transactions in the future. Customers can contribute to stable energy supply and decarbonization without being aware of it.

About the New Compatible Product "Enerezza®" Series

The Enerezza series is a storage system compatible with the high-precision demand forecasting and detailed charge/discharge control realized by the AI optimal control service "Gridshare."

It uses a semi-solid clay-type lithium-ion battery, the world's first mass-produced (Note 3), offering high safety and a long lifespan of approximately 20,000 cycles. This allows it to stably support the frequent charge/discharge required for Gridshare's AI control and future capacity market and supply-demand adjustment market (Note 1) over the long term.

The latest model, Enerezza PlusII, has high-speed charge/discharge control performance that instantly responds to fluctuations in power supply and demand, and its system configuration is designed for participation in the electricity market (Note 1). Regarding the network connectivity essential for participating in these markets, this product has obtained JC-STAR★1 for the entire system, including the storage unit, power conditioner, remote control, and communication modem (Note 4), ensuring high reliability in terms of cybersecurity.

By linking with Gridshare, this product line will not only maximize economic benefits such as reduced electricity bills but also contribute to future value creation such as VPP business and market participation, providing customers with further added value.
