Copado K.K. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Mihomi Funakoshi; hereinafter "Copado") announces the results of a survey on the current state of test automation in Salesforce, conducted among 109 hands-on professionals involved in Salesforce development, operations, and testing at companies with 300 or more employees.
Survey Summary
This survey reveals a stark gap between the ideal and reality of testing in Salesforce development and operations. While 92.7% of respondents expressed a desire for test automation, only 21.7% of companies are able to conduct sufficient testing every time. Behind this lies a precarious situation where over 70% of teams still rely on manual processes, maintaining quality through labor-intensive practices such as after-hours support and knowledge silos.
To overcome barriers such as "difficulty selecting automation tools" and "concerns about compatibility with Salesforce-specific features," Copado is launching a "guided support program" that combines a one-month free trial with expert-led scenario creation, strongly supporting the simultaneous achievement of release speed and quality.
01|Approximately 90% of Salesforce Developers Believe "Sufficient Testing Should Be Conducted with Every Upgrade"
02|89.6% Feel Burdened by Testing Effort and Response, with 31.1% Saying They "Feel It Strongly"
03|92.7% Recognize That Testing "Should Be Automated," Yet Only 24.8% Have "Automated Most Processes"
[1. The Overwhelming Demand for Automation vs. Current Reality]
In Salesforce development and operations environments, 92.7% of professionals recognize that testing "should be automated," and nearly 90% (88.9%) believe that "sufficient testing should be conducted with every version upgrade."
However, contrary to this overwhelming demand, only 21.7% of companies "consistently conduct" impact verification testing with each upgrade. Only 24.8% report having "automated most of the processes," while over 70% remain in a state of manual-heavy or partially automated operations.
Due to this reliance on manual work, 89.6% of professionals feel significant burden from testing effort and response. Specific pain points include "the effort of creating and managing test cases," "pressure on other tasks due to time consumption," "knowledge silos where only specific individuals can perform testing," and "after-hours or weekend release monitoring," all of which contribute to excessive stress and burnout in the field.
[2. Why Isn't Automation Advancing? "Tool Selection" and "Concerns Specific to Salesforce"]
Despite such high awareness of its necessity, there are clear reasons why test automation is not advancing. According to the survey, the biggest barrier to automation is "difficulty selecting and comparing automation tools" (53.7%). Next is concern over whether tools can handle "Salesforce-specific screens and specifications" (40.2%).
Additionally, many cited reasons why upgrade testing is not sufficiently conducted, including "our organization cannot keep up with the three annual updates" (47.7%) and "lack of know-how on what tests are needed to verify impact on existing functions" (45.5%). The survey highlights that teams are unable to take the first step toward automation due to the difficulty of choosing the right tool from countless options and anxiety stemming from lack of expertise.
[3. Copado's "Guided" Support Program]
To fundamentally address field teams' urgent challenges—"we don't know how to automate" and "we're unsure if it will work in our environment"—Copado has launched a special support program: the "Salesforce Test Automation: Expert-Guided Free Trial."
This program goes beyond simply providing a tool; it is a "guided" support model. Copado will provide free access for one month to its high-quality test automation environment, "Copado Robotic Testing (CRT)," and Copado experts will create, at no cost, "test automation scenarios for three major use cases" tailored to each customer's actual environment. By having experts lead the process from setup to validation, Copado eliminates anxiety due to lack of know-how and enables teams to focus on creating real value.
[4. From Free Trial or Free Webinar]
The delay in test automation causes not only field burdens such as dependency on specific staff and anxiety over bugs from insufficient validation. In situations where speed and quality cannot be guaranteed, even advanced AI-driven development cannot deliver its full benefits. Furthermore, resources cannot be allocated to creative work that generates new value, and corporate competitiveness will inevitably decline.
Through the limited-time "Salesforce Test Automation: Expert-Guided Free Trial," experience firsthand the quality improvements based on actual use cases and achieve an environment where "everyone can sleep peacefully on release day." We also welcome consultations on current challenges, such as "where to begin improving our testing process."
Additionally, we will host a webinar introducing in detail "Copado Robotic Testing," the end-to-end UI test automation tool available for one month of free use in the trial. We will demonstrate and explain no-code script creation compatible with Salesforce-specific features and methods to reduce effort, helping to eliminate concerns about automation.
