Sakura Pax Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Toyama City, Toyama Prefecture; President: Jun Hashimoto) has produced a three-part experimental video series titled 'VS Cardboard' to widely convey the possibilities of cardboard and the fascination of its design and development. The first part, the 'Helicopter Episode,' will be released on the company's official YouTube channel on May 20, 2026 (Wed), marking its 79th anniversary.

Why release an 'outrageous video' on the 79th anniversary?

Since its founding 79 years ago, Sakura Pax views this milestone not just as a celebration, but as a 'starting point for the next challenge.'

As the company moves toward its 80th, 90th, and 100th terms, it believes that continuing to pass on the pride in the cardboard material itself and the excitement of this job to the next generation is essential for further growth.

Amidst a declining birthrate, aging population, and labor shortages, one of the challenges facing the entire cardboard and manufacturing industry is conveying its appeal to younger generations. While cardboard supports modern society in logistics, e-commerce, and disaster relief, the reality is that its technical depth and excitement as a job are not fully communicated due to the image of it being 'commonplace.'

To address this challenge head-on, Sakura Pax has taken on the production of video content. They chose to prove their conviction that 'cardboard is an amazingly wonderful material' through overwhelming experimental footage rather than just logic.

About the first part, 'Helicopter Episode':

'Make a cardboard box that won't break a wine bottle even when dropped from 100m.' The challenge started with this 'outrageous request' from President Jun Hashimoto.

Calculated to exert an impact of approximately 450kg, the experiment involved overcoming anxiety about a height never before experienced. The engineers arrived at an unusual rocket-shaped cardboard design. On the day of the experiment, the cardboard was handed to the helicopter drop operator, and the president counted down for the drop.
