1. Background

KUMS, which is responsible for dental medicine, education, and research, is closely monitoring the increasing number of cyberattacks targeting universities and educational institutions both domestically and internationally, which have led to social issues such as the suspension of entrance examination operations, leakage of research data, and breaches of student information.

It is recognized that the more integrated an organization is, encompassing education, research, and clinical practice, the more numerous the entry points for attacks exist within its complex system infrastructure. Once damage occurs, there is a risk of direct impact on the functionality of the entire organization.

Furthermore, in the medical field, in addition to the amendment of the Pharmaceutical and Medical Device Act in 2023, the "Guidelines for Security Management of Medical Information Systems, Version 7.0" was issued by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare in June 2026, mandating and strengthening measures for medical institution administrators to ensure cybersecurity.

To anticipate these changes in the regulatory environment and the increasing sophistication of threats surrounding educational institutions, it was determined that there is a fundamental need to strengthen the information security system of the entire organization through cooperation with specialized service providers.

3. "Explore" Domain

Creating academic knowledge through joint research, surveys, and academic activities related to education, dental medicine, and information security in the AI era.

4. "Expand" Domain

Disseminating the knowledge and practical results gained through this collaboration through various media.

5. "Pioneer" Domain

Expanding this collaboration model to other educational institutions, research institutions, vocational schools, and educational corporations.

3. Details of Support Provided by SSK
