Oriental Giken Kogyo Becomes First Research Equipment Manufacturer to Join Ministry of the Environment's "Nature Positive Management Promotion Platform"

Fostering the "ORIENTAL Forest" Aiming for Harmony Between Business Activities and Nature

Oriental Giken Kogyo Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Masayoshi Hayashi; hereinafter referred to as "the Company"), a group company of 600 Holdings that handles the creation of research environments, has become the first research equipment manufacturer to participate in the "Nature Positive Management Promotion Platform," managed by the Ministry of the Environment. As the Company uses a significant amount of wood for materials in research equipment such as laboratory benches, it has participated in forest circulation initiatives since 2021 out of a sense of responsibility as a manufacturer that consumes resources. Moving forward, the Company aims to build environmentally conscious businesses, including product development utilizing thinned wood and wood recycling.

Through participation in this platform, the Company will promote initiatives for the coexistence of nature conservation and business activities while expanding collaboration with companies and organizations. Furthermore, through dialogue and cooperation across industries, the Company aims to solve common challenges, create new business opportunities, and contribute to the realization of a sustainable society.

Our Initiatives for Coexistence with Nature

The Company is engaged in "Tsukubasan Water Source Forest Creation" to give form to two aspirations: its social responsibility as a manufacturer and its activities rooted in the local city of Tsukuba, where its production and sales bases are located.

To pass on the beautiful scenery of Mt. Tsukuba to future generations, we will carry out seedling cultivation and afforestation activities for the Mt. Tsukuba water source, leading to the nurturing of the "ORIENTAL Forest."

In the "ORIENTAL Forest," we aim to plant and carefully cultivate seedlings that we have grown ourselves, and in the future, utilize thinned wood generated from these efforts in our products, such as research equipment.

Furthermore, as a social responsibility for companies that emit CO2, we contribute to Japanese forest conservation through our research equipment and implement a carbon offset program that can also be used for reporting CO2 emissions from companies.
