Starting June 4 (Thu), J.M. WESTON ATELIER in Nihonbashi Hamacho, Tokyo, will host a new exhibition titled 'Bonjour, tonnerre de pavés'. This exhibition features the works of the late Ruth Pettus, a New Zealand-born American artist. Pettus collected discarded shoes during her travels and transformed them into artworks, tracing the life paths and memories of their former owners. Through these reconstructed shoes, the exhibition quietly questions human existence and the flow of time. This project was born from a chance encounter between Oscar Villegas-Paez, who owns her collection, and Olivier Saillard, the Artistic, Image & Culture Director of J.M. WESTON. The exhibition offers an opportunity to experience the artistry and spirituality embodied by J.M. WESTON, which has been making shoes in Limoges, France for over 130 years. It provides a profound look at the act of walking and the countless stories etched into shoes.
