Geograms Inc., a film production company with bases in Tokyo and Hokkaido, has announced that the tourism video 'Sarobetsu Genya, Memories of the North,' which it produced for Horonobe Town, Hokkaido, has won the 'Grand Prix' in the Japan Category and the 'Best Award' in the Tourism Products Category at the 8th Japan World's Tourism Film Festival (JWTFF).

Furthermore, the film received the 'Special Selection' award in the Video Category at the 72nd Hokkaido PR Contest, gaining high acclaim in both the domestic tourism video and local government PR sectors.

Production Background This work was produced under commission from Horonobe Town, Hokkaido, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the designation of Rishiri-Rebun-Sarobetsu National Park. Horonobe Town, where the film is set, is the hometown of Geograms' representative, Kodai Ito. The project aimed to create a film that conveys the essential value of the region rather than being a mere tourism introduction.

About the Film 'Sarobetsu Genya, Memories of the North' is a documentary-style tourism video that depicts the memories of the land by layering natural landscapes with the words of local people. Instead of viewing the Sarobetsu Genya merely as a tourism resource, the film treats it as a place intertwined with the lives and memories of the people, quietly asking questions such as 'Why is this landscape important?' and 'What should be left for the next generation?'
