Toyota Upgrade Factory, a service that allows customers to retrofit genuine Toyota options at authorized dealers, launched a new item today: the 'Shibetsu Fin Under Cover' for the 125 series Hilux.
The price is 75,900 JPY (including tax and labor), and it can be ordered regardless of how you use the vehicle (ownership, subscription, etc.).
'Shibetsu Fins' are an upgrade item developed at the Shibetsu Proving Ground in Hokkaido. By placing fins under the floor to control airflow, they suppress slight, unconscious body sway during driving, realizing high driving stability. Previously, resin-type Shibetsu Fins were available for the 50 series Prius and the 30 series Alphard/Vellfire.
For the Hilux, the Shibetsu Fins are integrally molded with an aluminum under cover. This item offers three benefits in one: comfortable driving on-road, safety protection off-road, and 'showcase' design aesthetics.
Craftsmen from the Tsubame-Sanjo region in Niigata used multiple pressing stages to create 5mm-high fins seamlessly from a 3mm aluminum plate. The complex curves were precisely formed by skilled 'hand-bending.' The 'Made in Tsubame' logo, certified by the Tsubame Chamber of Commerce and Industry, is laser-engraved as a mark of fusion between vehicle customization and traditional Japanese craftsmanship.
Resin-type 'Shibetsu Fins' for the Land Cruiser 250 are also now available for online order through the Toyota Upgrade Factory.
