Dewar's, a Scotch whisky brand imported by Bacardi Japan and distributed by Sapporo Breweries, will release 'Dewar's 12 Years Mizunara' on Tuesday, May 26, 2026. This new, Japan-exclusive product blends Scotch tradition with Japanese sensibilities.
Crafted by Dewar's 7th Master Blender Stephanie Macleod, the release focuses on Japan's traditional coopering craft and the local culture of drinking whisky as highballs. It will be available in Japan only, in limited quantities.
Over 40 whiskies, centered on Aberfeldy matured for at least 12 years, are blended and then finished in Japanese Mizunara oak casks. This process highlights the sandalwood and woody notes characteristic of Mizunara. The result is a profile featuring sweet floral aromas layered with delicate sandalwood, complemented by flavors of white peach, apricot, and orange peel, culminating in a mellow finish.
As whisky finished in Mizunara casks has seen significant growth in recent years, this special blend is aimed specifically at the Japanese market.
