Volkswagen Japan (Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo; Brand Director: Martin Zäge) has launched the 'Polo Edition 50,' an anniversary model commemorating the 50th anniversary of its compact hatchback, the Polo, at authorized Volkswagen dealerships nationwide starting today.
The first-generation Polo was born in 1975 as the successor to the legendary Beetle. It achieved a spacious interior despite its compact body size and has grown into a bestseller with over 20 million units sold globally.
The 'Polo Edition 50' is an anniversary model planned by the German headquarters. Based on the TSI Style, it incorporates numerous exclusive features to mark the 50th anniversary, such as special door sill plates, a specially designed decorative panel, 17-inch 'Tortosa' aluminum wheels, and a '50' badge on the B-pillar.
Furthermore, it comes standard with front seat heaters, a driving profile function, and the Volkswagen Genuine Infotainment System 'Discover Pro,' enhancing convenience. It also introduces an exclusive exterior color, 'Crystal Ice Blue Metallic,' used for the first time on a Polo.
